The Names of God

I Am Who I Am

The Name that encompasses every name, attribute, and work of God

By Pastor Yolandita Colón

"God replied to Moses, 'I AM WHO I AM. Say this to the people of Israel: I AM has sent me to you.'" Exodus 3:14 · NLT

This is one of the most powerful Names of God — perhaps the most powerful of all. Why? Because it encompasses every one of His names, attributes, characteristics, and works. There is no end to who He is. He is everything, everywhere, and more than you and I could ever imagine.

When God says He is Who He is, it is as if He is saying:

I am, from eternity to eternity, the only Name that stands All-Powerful and All-Majestic — the Source of all you see and all you don't see: past, present, and future. I am the Past, I am the Present, and I am the Future. The description of who I Am has no end, because I AM God.

And this Name belongs to the triune God — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Jesus took this very Name on His own lips: "Before Abraham was even born, I AM" (John 8:58). He is the definition of life, love, peace, abundance, forgiveness, and joy — and the list is endless.

He Never Stops Being What We Run Out Of

We can say we have joy or happiness, and sometimes we're right. But when life brings pain or disappointment, our happiness dissipates. God, on the other hand, never stops saying, "I AM happiness." Under no circumstance does He cease to be the very definition of joy, of love, of peace. He is integrity. He is always good. He is All in everything.

Out of the more than 1,200 names of God's nature in my book Revival Worshipers for the Last Days, this is the one I am still processing — and I will continue processing it until the Lord comes.

A Paradigm Shift

I encourage you today: get to know the I Am Who I Am. It will cause a paradigm shift. The more you know Him, the better you will understand how He works in your life — and life becomes easier to carry, especially in hard times. I process this best by applying it to my daily living. It takes time, but His Holy Spirit within us reveals Him bit by bit as we seek Him and allow Him into our challenging situations each day.

Make the I AM WHO I AM
your All in all.

He wants to reveal Himself to you more than you could ever desire.
